Plus Special Guests

Snowgoose  are a folk/psych duo consisting of Anna Sheard and Jim McCulloch. Their third album, 'Descendant', sees the pair expand their sound and delve deeper into a world of emotion and melody.

Anna and Jim`s songs are delivered with the very highest levels of musicianship, as always joined by the cream of Scottish indie royalty - Raymond McGinley (Teenage Fanclub) on guitar, Chris Geddes (Belle and Sebastian) on keyboards, Stevie Jones (Arab Strap) on Bass, Tim Davidson (Tracyanne & Danny) on pedal steel, Stuart Kidd (BMX Bandits) and Adam Stearns (Trembling Bells) on drums and percussion.

As with 'The Making of You' their 2020, released on Glass Modern / Ba Da Bing, these new songs ooze melodic flair with Anna`s deeply evocative vocals placed front and centre. All of the tracks on 'Descendant', including vocals were recorded LIVE at Chem 19 Studio's, Glasgow, over five intense days during the Summer.

The results need to be heard to be believed. Beauty and Love, Sorrow and Loss are big themes to explore - but in these hands sound effortlessly heart-breaking. Do yourself a favour and dive into 'Descendant' - it will soothe your soul.

‘Descendant’ by Snowgoose is released by Violette Records on 18 October 2024.”

Novelist Ian Rankin, who declared Snowgoose’s debut one of the best albums of 2012, says, “I was a huge fan of the first Snowgoose album and I'm equally excited by the follow-up. Such warmth and emotion, with great performances by the musicians and singer Anna Sheard. Fairport Convention, the Incredible String Band, Pentangle and more come to mind, but Snowgoose add a lyricism and delicacy of
their own.”

Del Amitri frontman Justin Currie adds, “Jim McCulloch and Anna Sheard, with their troupe of Scottish alternative pop royalty, have made the kind of record that saved the easy listening genre in the early seventies. Think Sandy Denny crashing into a Jimmy Webb session armed with delicate west coast melodies and a little bag of very modern anxiety.”
